Festival Program Note

A cramped deck becomes a writers’ room: fast notes, faster claps, and a producer smiling through the chaos because it secretly works. A tiny, relentless critic floors the gas; his patient partner steers.

Lead Puppet Producer

Faderghost – Built this one out of every 3 a.m. booth nightmare he’s ever mixed through: the panicked producer who “just needs one more tweak” and the overeager idea-gremlin who keeps adding genres to bar one. He took the lead so he could ground the whole thing in something that still works on a real system, and ended up voicing the frazzled producer himself—every sigh and “it’s fine, it’s fine” borrowed from nights spent babysitting fragile egos over hot monitors. Patch jumped at the chance to play Pepe as pure chaos on the talkback mic, turning the track into a call-and-response between hard-earned live-sound wisdom and the gremlin in your DMs yelling, “More spice, baby!”

Track Dedication

Dedicated to the producers, mixers, and studio ghosts who get the impossible briefs, always followed by “we love it, but...” It's time to step out of the shadows and show the world how much you've actually contributed.

And to the human idea firehoses on the other side of the glass (The artists, directors, and prawns with ten concepts a minute) Sometimes we all just need the reminder that you want the silly song to do well. Thanks for caring enough to keep pushing.

PEPE: "Hola! OK, very important—" PEPE: "I fix your song now, okay?" LEAD: I pull a clean B-minor pad, LEAD: four-on-the-floor, it’s not that bad. LEAD: Sidechain the bass, keep lows in line, LEAD: I’m lining up the mix, it’s fine. PEPE: OK, but listen, baby, we need clap-clap-clap—olé! PEPE: Make the snare like twelve-oh-five Ibiza café. LEAD: I’m setting kicks to hit on one, LEAD: Hat on the ampersand so it can run. PEPE: Put a reggaeton on top, okay? PEPE: Is technically right—just sideways, valé? LEAD: You say, “More spice! Turn up the sun!” LEAD: You want three genres in bar one. LEAD: You’re half correct, but off the map— LEAD: sidechain your voice, not every clap. PEPE: (spoken) "Is just little sidechain, okay." LEAD: My gain’s in red, my brain’s in steam, LEAD: you’re tap-dancing through my careful dream. LEAD: Three, two… PEPE: (Shout) OK, DROP IT, BABY! SPICY FEEDBACK! LEAD: You throw ideas from the aisle. / ("SPICY FEEDBACK!") PEPE: I make it hot, I make it style. / ("SPICY FEEDBACK!") LEAD: I dodge, I trim, I keep it tight— LEAD: You’re chaos on the talkback line tonight. LEAD: Print the take, hit save, don’t crash— LEAD: He adds the spice, I clean the splash. LEAD: You say, “OK, very important tip— LEAD: Put a choir pad under the bass drum kick.” LEAD: You want a jazz break in my trance, LEAD: a tuba drop, a line-dance chance. PEPE: Sidechain the congas to the hi-hat, sí? PEPE: Is textbook perfect—"confía en mí." / LEAD: You’re quoting forums from oh-nine, LEAD: you’re right on paper, wrong in time. LEAD: You want a key change every bar, LEAD: and auto-tune on my guitar. / LEAD: You say, “More drops! No breaks! All hook!” LEAD: I’m trying to write, not fill a book. LEAD: Still, little bits of what you say LEAD: slip in the cracks and start to play. LEAD: My CPU’s about to fry, LEAD: but your small sparks still light the sky. LEAD: Three, two… PEPE: (Shout) ¡ÓRALE! LET’S GO, OKAY! SPICY FEEDBACK! PEPE: You shake the mix like maracas. / ("SPICY FEEDBACK!") LEAD: I ride the wave and trim the glass. / (SPICY FEEDBACK!) BOTH: We bend, we laugh, we spin this set— BOTH: The song ain’t what I planned… and yet. LEAD: You know… LEAD: Sometimes your notes hit like a storm. LEAD: Too many “very important”s in every form. LEAD: But under all the chaos, I can tell— LEAD: you just want this silly song to do well. PEPE: "So we do key change, horn section," PEPE: "And I sing the big drop with affection, okay?" LEAD: Maybe not everything you demand… LEAD: But some of your spice still joins the band. LEAD: I’ll keep the wheel, you crack the joke— LEAD: we share the track, we share the smoke. LEAD: Count it in—no fear, no fuss… BOTH: (shouted) This mix is big enough for us! PICY FEEDBACK! BOTH: You light the fuses in my mind. (SPICY FEEDBACK!) BOTH: I shape the blast and keep it kind. (SPICY FEEDBACK!) BOTH: We trade the wheel but share the ride— BOTH: Your wild ideas, my steady guide. BOTH: You bring the heat, I steer the song. (SPICY FEEDBACK!) BOTH We make it loud and still belong. (SPICY FEEDBACK!) BOTH: From first “OK” to final clap— BOTH: We turned your spam into the map. PEPE: "OK... very important..." PEPE: "was pretty good, no?" LEAD: Yeah. LEAD: Spicy Feedback dot tap… saved.
