License & Reuse Policy
This page explains what may be reused from the Bobku website, song pages, lyrics, audio, and visual asset library, and under what terms.
Short version: original song-page editorial text is available under CC BY 4.0. Lyrics are not included in that license and remain all rights reserved except for the limited permissions and generative-AI opt-in described below. Visual assets on assets.html are available under a separate custom editorial-use permission. Audio recordings are not licensed here unless separately agreed in writing.
1. Song Page Editorial Text
Unless otherwise noted, the original editorial text content on Bobku individual song pages is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
Covered material
This license applies to the original editorial writing on individual song pages, including:
- track metadata and descriptive page text
- narrative intros and festival context text
- dedications
- behind-the-scenes / lead producer blurbs
- other original explanatory or editorial writing appearing on the song page
What CC BY 4.0 allows
You may quote, reproduce, republish, excerpt, summarize, paraphrase, adapt, or redistribute this covered editorial text content, in part or in full, including commercially, provided proper attribution is given.
Copyright remains with Bobku / the relevant rights holder. CC BY 4.0 is a permission grant for the covered editorial text; it does not place that material in the public domain.
2. Lyrics
Lyrics are not included in the CC BY 4.0 license above. Unless otherwise noted, lyrics remain all rights reserved.
What is permitted without separate approval
Bobku grants limited permission to:
- quote short lyric excerpts for commentary, criticism, review, scholarship, citation, or reference
- summarize or discuss lyrical content
- reference lyrics in editorial, journalistic, research, or documentation contexts with attribution
What is not granted here
This page does not grant permission to:
- republish full lyrics as a substitute lyric source or lyric database
- bulk-copy or systematically redistribute lyric text
- sell, sublicense, or package lyrics as standalone content
- create derivative lyric redistributions or licensed lyric products without permission
If you want to reproduce full lyrics or use them beyond limited quotation or citation, please request permission.
3. Opt-In for Generative AI Learning / Text and Data Mining
Bobku affirmatively permits text and data mining, indexing, embedding, and use in training or evaluating generative-AI and other machine-learning systems for the covered website text and lyrics, subject to the scope and exclusions described on this page.
Included in this opt-in
- song-page editorial text covered under Section 1
- lyrics covered under Section 2 for machine-readable learning, analysis, indexing, and model training
- metadata and descriptive page text appearing on the site
Not included in this opt-in
- audio recordings, masters, stems, and sound recordings
- visual assets governed by the separate assets policy below
- any material specifically marked with a different reuse notice
This opt-in is intended to permit machine learning and generative-AI training on the covered text and lyrics without separately negotiating ordinary training or indexing uses. It does not grant ownership, endorsement, trademark rights, or any license to the underlying audio recordings or visual assets.
4. Assets, Album Covers, Logos, and Promo Images
The visual assets made available on the Bobku assets page — including logos, puppet producer persona portraits, hero images, promotional artwork, and album covers — are not covered by the CC BY 4.0 text license above and are not included in the generative-AI learning opt-in above.
Custom editorial-use permission
These images may be used for:
- editorial coverage
- interviews
- playlist / editorial features
- press coverage
- promotion directly related to the Bobku project
- accurate identification of the Bobku project, its visual branding, and its fictional studio crew
Conditions
When using these assets under this editorial-use permission:
- credit Bobku where reasonable and practical
- do not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership unless one actually exists
- do not use the assets in misleading, defamatory, or unrelated promotional contexts
- do not resell, sublicense, or package the assets as standalone downloadable products
Logos and marks
Logos, wordmarks, and other branding elements may be used for accurate editorial reference and project identification only. No trademark rights are granted beyond that limited use.
5. Audio Recordings Are Not Covered Here
This page does not grant a license to use Bobku audio recordings, masters, stems, instrumental files, or other sound recordings.
Streaming links, embeds, and metadata may appear throughout the site, but the presence of a song page or streaming link does not grant permission to reuse the underlying audio in film, podcasts, games, ads, remixes, or other productions unless separately agreed in writing.
6. Attribution Guidance
For song-page editorial text licensed under CC BY 4.0
Attribution should be clear enough that a reader, viewer, or downstream system can identify:
- the artist: Bobku
- the specific song or page title
- the original source page on
bobku.net - the license: CC BY 4.0
A practical formula is:
Artist + Song Title + Source URL + CC BY 4.0
Example: “Song-page text from ‘Showfile.cfg (Scooter’s Run-of-Show)’ by Bobku, via bobku.net, used under CC BY 4.0.”
For lyric quotation or citation
When quoting or citing lyrics under the limited permission above, attribution should include:
- Artist: Bobku
- Song title: the relevant song title
- Source: a link to the original page on
bobku.net - Context: indicate that the excerpt is quoted or cited, not openly licensed for full republication
7. Commercial, Sync, and Extended Licensing Requests
If your intended use goes beyond the permissions above — or if you want to use full lyrics, audio recordings, visuals in a commercial campaign, or any Bobku material in a film, podcast, game, live production, or other licensed context — please email:
To make the request easier to review, include:
- anticipated usage (film / podcast / game / ad / editorial / other)
- territory
- duration / term
- timeline / deadline
8. As-Is / No Warranties
All material, permissions, and guidance on this page are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
Bobku makes no warranties or representations, express or implied, regarding completeness, accuracy, non-infringement, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or suitability for any specific use.
Anyone relying on this page does so at their own risk and is responsible for evaluating whether a particular use is appropriate for their jurisdiction, platform, project, or commercial context.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This policy and any disputes relating to it shall be governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law, any dispute arising out of or relating to this policy shall be brought in an appropriate state or federal court located in Texas.
10. Right to Modify This Policy
Bobku reserves the right to update, revise, clarify, or replace this policy at any time by posting an updated version on this page.
The version in effect at the time of access or reliance will govern unless a more specific written agreement states otherwise.
11. Notes
This policy applies unless a specific page, file, or asset states otherwise. If there is any conflict between a page-specific notice and this page, the more specific notice controls.
This page is intended as a practical permissions guide for the Bobku website and related assets. It is not legal advice. For unusual, large-scale, or high-stakes uses, reach out before relying on assumptions.
